The 55th Kerala State Film Awards, announced on November 3, 2025, highlighted a particularly impressive year for Malayalam cinema, where artistic quality and mainstream success came together strongly. Manjummel Boys was the night’s biggest winner, taking Best Film and Best Director for Chidambaram S. Poduval, along with several technical honors that reflected the film’s craft and scale. Mammootty won Best Actor for his powerful performance in Bramayugam, while Shamla Hamza earned Best Actress for Feminichi Fathima, a film that also received the Second Best Film award.
The awards also recognized the wider range of Malayalam cinema’s success in 2025. Premalu was named Best Popular Film, showing the year’s strong audience appeal, while Sushin Shyam won Best Music Director for Bougainvillea. In the supporting categories, Lijomol Jose was honored as Best Character Actress for Nadanna Sambhavam, and Soubin Shahir and Sidharth Bharathan shared the Best Character Actor award for their performances in Manjummel Boys and Bramayugam. Special Jury Awards further reflected the depth of talent across the industry, with names like Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, and Jyothirmayi also being acknowledged.
